So they only serve the domestic from bottles?? That’s gonna be a huge truckload for a recycling center somewhere.

The Friday event is only bottles- imports. The Saturday session is almost all draft with each brewery having their own booth.

There will be a lot more brewery’s there on Sat. that aren’t listed here. I know Buffalo Brewing, Little Yeoman, Alandale, Morgan Street, New Albanian (I think), Springfield (I think), Powerplant (I think), 29th Street (I think) and a few more.

I am bringing a Firkin of O’Fallon IPA dry hopped with Cluster hops. For Buffalo I am bringing some Rye IPA, Red, and Hefe.

Since when was Blue Moon, Guinness, Harp, ect. considered “micros”??

Chuck, you make a good point. But, as Dave said, Friday night is the “International Night” which replaced the old International Beer Fest. International Night is supposed to feature imports.

I agree with you about Blue Moon. But, for better or worse, every year there are beers featured there such as Leine’s Berry Weiss which are hardly “micros”. Unfortunately, with Microfest relying entirely on donations from distributors and breweries, some local distributors view this event more as a hassle and don’t see an incentive to serve beers in which their samples are not being reimbursed by the breweries.

More and more beer fests are popping up which means distributors are getting asked more often than ever for donations. This is making things more difficult now for distributors to decide which events they can afford to participate in. Moreover, it is relatively expensive for out-of-town brewers to come in for a weekend and pour free (donated) beer at a festival in a market in which many of these brewers aren’t even currently selling their beer.

I remember the first couple of years of Microfest when it had many out-of-town breweries represented and it was on the picturesque grounds of the Worlds Fair Pavilion.
