mattingly_84x128.jpgThe Mattingly Brewing Company may now be producing full scale productions of beer, but that doesn’t stop them from showing off what’s yet to come. Tonight, Head Brewer Drew Huerter let his new assistant brewer Jerid Saffell take the reins and brew up something chosen by you. Tonight will be your opportunity to try the Skyline Drive West Coast Amber Ale. Here’s Jerid’s description of the beer:

This decidedly hoppy west coast amber ale was brewed with 6 different malts (Premium 2 Row Pale, American Pilsner, American White Wheat, American Victory, Belgian Biscuit, and Crystal 60). The malts create a medium/medium light body with a slight grainy sweetness, toasty finish, and caramel sweet note to balance the absurd amount of American hop varieties. (Magnum, Chinook, Simcoe, Columbus, Amarillo, Centennial, Ahtanum, and Cascade). The varieties all add their unique qualities into a beer with a decidedly citric hop quality. 75% of the hops were added with 20 minutes or less left in the boil to reduce bitterness while adding tons of hop flavor and aroma. 5 Gallons will be served after being dry hopped with mega fresh Cascade whole hops, while the other 5 gallons was dry hopped with equally fresh whole Amarillo hops.

Be sure to head out tonight and taste some of Drew and Jerid’s excellent beer.
