03/14/08 Friday Round-Up

10:29 am Beer News

I guess if you’re looking for an excuse to drink beer (though I never need one) St. Patty’s Day weekend is as good any.  I personally have a beer filled weekend.  First we’ll be visiting the best beer restaurant in the metro area, Erato on Main, this evening for dinner.  Then we’ll celebrate Matt from Goshen Coffee’s birthday on Saturday (beer will be in hand at all times).  And I’ll be brewing an American Pilsner this Sunday, it’ll be my first shot at a lager.  Whew, busy stuff.  Now, on to the Round-Up:

I tried the Land Shark Lager last night. I could only stand one drink. It was absolutely horrible. No taste going in, but a bad aftertaste.

Had the Land Shark myself recently. Three words: Margaritaville Brewing Company. Blech.

We tried the shock-top a couple weeks ago. Being big fans of Leinenkugel’s Sunset Wheat, we were going to just buy that. However, as we grabbed the Leine’s, a girl standing next to us introduced herself as an AB rep, and said that if we tried the Shock Top she would buy us a second 6-pack of it! Can you say no to free beer? No. So we tried it. Like the review said, not good. not bad. We’ll stick with the sunset wheat.

BTW, did you see this article on layered beer in the wash. post? Made me thirsty…
